Ginger was diagnosed with stage IV multiple myeloma on Dec. 14, 1999. In 2002, she had a stem cell transplant and was in remission for almost four years. She endured chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries in her battle with this disease and its complications. Ginger’s fight ended on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 7:20 a.m. A woman of tremendous faith, she always told her daughters she would try to beat the disease, but that her ultimate reward would be in heaven. “If I win, I win,” she said. “And if I lose, I still win.”
